Morah Sinead Meehan
On behalf of Bnos Aliya, we feel delighted to announce that Miss Sinead Meehan has joined the Bnos Aliya staff as Head Teacher of General Studies for Upper Elementary and Middle School (grades 4th-8th). For the past couple of years, Miss Meehan has trained teachers at the West Side Montessori Elementary Certification Program, where Lauren Feinberg had the privilege of meeting Miss Meehan and studying Montessori mathematics as her student. Miss Meehan is currently responsible for Elementary I teacher training in the entirety of the language and biology curricula. In addition, Miss Meehan creates language materials for Elementary II and develops Montessori curricula for the online platform, PowerSchool.
Miss Meehan has taught 1st-6th grade for the past six years in both public and Montessori schools in Williamsburg, VA and the greater Philadelphia area. Miss Meehan also serves as a field consultant for the Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies, where she performs field observations for adult learners in their practicing year.
Miss Meehan obtained her Master's Degree in Education from St. Catherine’s University and her Elementary I Montessori certification at the renowned Institute for Advanced Montessori Studies in Silver Spring, MD. Miss Meehan earned her Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and Teachers’ Certification from the State of Pennsylvania in all subjects from Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade and in math and social studies for grades 7th-9th.
Outside of the classroom, Sinead enjoys Irish dancing, playing soccer and lacrosse, cycling, and using her Silhouette machine to craft gifts for her family and friends. In college, she competed in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association equestrian team. She enjoys traveling and exploring new cities. Miss Meehan has won the hearts of her students with her enthusiasm, personal warmth, and passion for teaching.
